This page is to serve as an unofficial landing page for information pertaining to the auditions for Dallas' Lyric Stage 2026 production of Godspell. I am beyond excited to know that Lyric is continuing this season to spite it being a very hard year for all arts organizations and indeed everyone. I have no doubt that Lyric will continue to draw on the deep pool of talented local actors, musicains and artists and mount yet another great performance. Here are the details....
Adapted from Lyric's InstaGram Post:
Lyric Stage Dallas begins its 2026-2027 season with the Stephen Schwartz classic “Godspell.”
This iconic musical retells the last days and teachings of Jesus Christ through the Gospel of Matthew. The music will stir your soul, and the message is more relevant than ever.
Auditions:
First Call: August 29th, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Callbacks: August 30th 3pm-9pm.
Performances: October 16th - 25th
We will see all Equity and Non-Equity performers at this call; ages 17 and up. All gender identities and expressions are welcome, and performers may audition for any role.
For the initial call, “Prepare ye” a one minute cut of a song in the style of or from the show. Please bring sheet music with the appropriate cut clearly marked for the accompanist, or be prepared to sing a cappella.
If called back be prepared to sing your song and tell a 2 minute story of your choosing. NOT a monologue, just a good story.
Lyric Stage’s Catherine Carpenter Cox will helm this production, marking her directorial debut. As a member of the 2000 Off Broadway Revival of “Godspell” she will bring unique insight to this production. Local favorite Hans Grim will be the musical director and will bring this incredible score to life.

My additional post:
I’m thrilled that Lyric Stage is continuing its tradition of presenting high-quality musical theatre, and I’m honored to continue being part of that work as music director for *Godspell*!
I will not be available for the August 29 audition call, so I strongly encourage performers to submit a video audition for direct consideration for callbacks. Short and sweet is perfectly fine: roughly 30–60 seconds of musical theatre material with piano or a track, ideally in the style of the show.
Submit your digital audition here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSef4OAApDtot0t2Ubj3VSgAtBLS7neT8b_mbyMYk-30IeGOXA/viewform
You will need to sign in with a Google account to upload your audition. The deadline for digital submissions is 11:59 p.m. on August 26.
Every performer who submits digitally will receive an email or text confirming whether or not they have been invited to callbacks. Responses will be sent no later than 6 p.m. on August 29, although most performers will likely hear from us sooner.
If you have already reserved an August 29 audition time, you may keep that appointment after submitting digitally. If you receive a callback invitation, you may remove your August 29 signup and simply join us for callbacks on August 30 from 3–9 p.m.
Please note: August 30 is strictly by invitation. Only performers who receive an official callback invitation by email or text may attend. If you are not invited through your digital submission, you may still attend your scheduled August 29 audition to remain under consideration.
